SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY

Serigne LOUM

Head of Programme, WFP – Nigeria

Serigne is Head of Programme of WFP Nigeria Country Office. In that role, Serigne supervises the Nutrition, Livelihood, Cash Based Interventions, and General Food Assistance Units. Before joining the Country Office in Abuja, Serigne headed the programme unit in the Northeast covering Borno, Yobe and Adamawa from 2019 to 2021. As such he is very familiar with the food and nutrition security situation in Nigeria and responses provided by the humanitarian actors and Government.

Prior to joining Nigeria, Serigne spent 5 years in Burundi as Head of Nutrition before being promoted Head of Programme. He also worked with the International Medical Corps in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sierra Leone as Country Director and served with Counterpart International and Helen Keller International.

A national of Senegal, Serigne has held positions as Technical Advisor in his home country with the Ministry of Family and National Solidarity and Ministry of Early Childhood.

Serigne holds a Masters’ degree (DEA) in Public Health Nutrition from Senghor University (Egypt), Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from, Cheikh Anta Diop University (Senegal) and a Certificate on Executive Leadership from University of Oxford, Said Business School.
