SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Mr. Fred Kafeero
Mr. Fred Kafeero is a national of Uganda who holds a B.Sc. in Geography, Botany, Zoology, and a M.Sc. in Environment and Natural Resources from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.
Prior to his career with FAO, Mr Kafeero worked in Uganda as Manager on a private cattle Ranch, and later joined civil society, where he co-founded a Ugandan NGO, Environmental Alert, to which he served as Executive Director from 2002 to 2008.
From May 2008, he moved to FAO headquarters, Forestry Department in Rome, working as a consultant on National Forest Programmes and later, 2009 – 2016 as Forestry Officer in the FAO Forestry Policy and Resources Division in Rome.
He was appointed to become FAO Representative, serving from July 2016 to June 2020, as the FAO Representative in the United Republic of Tanzania.
In July 2020, he was appointed as the FAO Representative in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
